The Slovak company Powerful Medical, founded by the Herman brothers, has developed a groundbreaking platform capable of diagnosing up to 40 heart conditions from an ECG. Their goal is clear – to make top-level cardiological expertise accessible to every doctor, even those working in emergency departments. The software, already used by 100,000 doctors across Europe, has received a prestigious American award and is now aiming for the global market.

The company focuses on cardiological diagnostics and owns a platform that can detect 40 cardiovascular diseases from ECG readings. The software serves as a support tool for healthcare professionals in emergency rooms, who are often able to record an ECG but may not know how to interpret it correctly. This platform essentially provides them with a “virtual cardiologist with 30 years of experience” to help accurately diagnose patients. Cardiovascular disease is currently the leading cause of death worldwide.

The main vision of the company is to turn every doctor with access to an ECG machine into a top-level cardiologist with decades of diagnostic experience.

Founded in 2019, the company was established by brothers Martin and Robert Herman with the aim of changing the world on a global scale, improving countless lives, and being pioneers in the tech sector through the power of artificial intelligence. While AI is a major trend today, only about 150–200 medical institutions are currently utilizing it. However, the platform developed by the Herman brothers is already being used by 100,000 doctors in Europe.

What is their view on artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence should not be seen as a threat but rather as something that can make people’s lives easier. AI can reach the diagnostic level of a doctor with 30 years of experience much faster, which allows the doctor to focus on improving in areas where AI still falls short. We have to accept that while AI is excellent at some tasks, humans are still far better at others,” said Martin.

AI won’t necessarily replace people — it will only replace those who fight against it instead of using it to their advantage. “I use ChatGPT 40 times a day,” said Martin Herman.
While an average cardiologist evaluates around 100,000 ECG records over their career, and a general practitioner only a few thousand, artificial intelligence has already analyzed millions of ECGs. That’s where its advantage lies – it can work tirelessly, even while we rest.

Prestigious Recognition from the U.S.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has labeled the company’s solution a breakthrough technology. “Only about 1 in 50 or 1 in 100 medical devices receive this designation. The FDA declared that we have a groundbreaking technology that needs to reach the U.S. market urgently. In practice, this means that the lengthy certification process for a medical device, which often takes several years, can be expedited,” added Martin Herman.

The entire development process, from validation to certification, is financially demanding, so it’s important to prioritize markets where it makes commercial sense. The United States is key in this regard — even though it accounts for only 2.5% of the world’s population, it represents 45% of global healthcare spending.

How exactly does the AI work within their platform, and what are their future plans? You’ll find out in the next report!

The Herman brothers’ company proves that even from a small country, world-changing technology can emerge. And while AI may never fully replace humans, it can become an invaluable assistant — especially when time, precision, and human life are on the line.
